JFTC is sponsoring JFTC Essay Competition 2006 to encourage students, younger researchers and business people to express their opinions on matters of national and international importance.
One Grand Prize of 1 million yen and three Second Prizes of 200,000 yen will be awarded to the best four submissions, as selected by the distinguished judges. In addition, the Grand Prize Winner will be provided with an air-ticket to Tokyo (Japan) in order to attend the award ceremony on January 9, 2007.
The subject of the essay is
“Potential of Brand Japan”
It seems that the competitiveness of Japanese companies has been re-discovered in recent years. Japanese companies have excelled internationally in a wide-range of areas, from manufacturing, product development and production systems, to the provision of quality services and the development of the contents businesses. What are the indigenous assets of Japan that companies may engender, maintain and nurture by putting in their human resources, materials, funds, wisdom and time? What are the Japanese values that can be used as a tool to appeal to the world as well as to bring new resources into Japan? We are looking forward to seeing your ideas and comments on the competitiveness of Japan over the next 10 to 20 years from these perspectives.
Essays may be submitted by anyone regardless of nationality or place of residence. Essays may be written either in English or Japanese, and must be no more than 4,000 words in English, including charts and tables. All submissions must be typed. Participants can only submit one essay.
Information regarding a) the title of the essay and b) a summary of the essay (about 300 words) should be provided on top of the essay, as well as the following information about the participant: c) name, d) age, e) address, f) telephone number, g) e-mail address, h) organization (university/company), i) nationality (if possible) and j) how the participant learned about the competition.
Essays must be submitted by e-mail or mail no later than Sept. 29, 2006, and will not be returned.
The Award-Winners will be publicly announced on Dec. 15, 2006 on our Web site (http://www.jftc.or.jp) and we will additionally notify the Award-Winners by e-mail, telephone or mail. Award-Winning essays and the names of their authors will be posted both on the Web site, “JFTC Monthly Bulletin” and “JFTC News.”
All submissions must be original. (No previously published materials will be accepted.) All rights to the Award-Winning essays shall be the exclusive property of JFTC.
