To commemorate the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty (October 17th) and the first United Nations Decade for the Eradication of Poverty (1997-2006), the United Nations Department for Economic and Social Affairs, in collaboration with the Department of Public Information and the United Nations Postal Administration is pleased to announce: AN ART COMPETITION FOR CHILDREN TO DESIGN A UN STAMP ON THE THEME ‘WE CAN END POVERTY’

INTRODUCTION

As part of the activities to celebrate the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty and the end of the first Decade for the Eradication of Poverty, the Division for Social Policy and Development at the United Nations invites children from all over the world to participate in an art competition on the theme “We can end poverty”.

• The best 6 designs selected by the Panel of Judges will be presented during the commemoration of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, on 17 October 2007, and will be issued as stamps of the United Nations Postal Administration.
• In addition to the best 6 designs, another 20 designs will receive special commendation. The total of 26 winning entries will be displayed in a special exhibition at United Nations Headquarters in New York in 2007.

RULES OF THE COMPETITION Who can participate? Children from all around the world from age 5 to 15 years. Requirements for entry The entry should be made on paper or canvas A4 size or comparable. You may use ink, pencil, charcoal, crayon, water colour, marker, or any material that you might have available in your environment. Each design should be accompanied by a brief description of its meaning on the back of the entry. Please do not frame the art work.

3. Gender
4. Full address
5. Country
6. Telephone number, fax number and e-mail address (if available)
7. Any other useful contact information.

Selection of designs The 6 best designs will be announced by the United Nations during the commemoration of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty in October 17, 2007. These 6 best designs will be issues as stamps by the United Nations Postal Administration. In addition, 20 other designs will be awarded special commendations. All 26 designs will be displayed in a special exhibition at the United Nations in 2007. Judging A Panel of Judges composed of members from the United Nations Division for Social Policy and Development, the United Nations Department of Public Information and the United Nations Postal Administration will decide on the selection of winning entries.

Criteria for evaluation of entries Artistic expression, how well the design expresses the theme of the competition.

Lomba Desain Perangko PBB Dalam Rangka Memperingati Hari Internasional Pemberantasan Kemiskinan – 17 Oktober 2007 Dalam rangka memperingati Hari Internasional Pemberantasan Kemiskinan (17 Oktober ) dan Satu Dekade “PBB bagi Pemberantasan Kemiskinan” (1997 – 2006), Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa mengundang anak-anak dari seluruh dunia untuk berpartisipasi dalam lomba desain perangko PBB dengan tema “We can end Poverty” (Kita Dapat Mengakhiri Kemiskinan) Lomba ini diselenggarakan oleh Departemen Ekonomi Sosial PBB bekerjasama dengan Departemen Informasi Publik dan Administrasi Pos PBB. Peraturan Lomba

Peserta : Anak-anak usia 5 hingga 15 tahun. Persyaratan : Karya dibuat di atas kertas atau kanvas berukuran A4 atau setara. Alat yang digunakan bebas (tinta, krayon,cat air,dll). Setiap desain disertai keterangan singkat di baliknya mengenai arti desain. Karya tidak perlu dibingkai. Data pribadi dicantumkan di balik karya, berisi : nama lengkap, usia, jenis kelamin, alamat lengkap, negara, no. telepon, no.fax dan alamat e-mail (jika ada) dan nformasi lain yang dianggap perlu untuk kemudahan kontak. Karya desain paling lambat diterima tanggal 12 Juni 2007 dan ditujukan kepada : Direktur Pos, Ditjen Postel – Depkominfo Gedung Sapta Pesona Lantai 6, Jl.Merdeka Barat No.17 Jakarta Pusat 10110 Seluruh karya yang diterima akan dikirimkan oleh Ditjen Postel kepada panitia lomba di New York, Amerika Serikat. Penjurian Dewan juri terdiri atas anggota-anggota dari Pembangunan dan Kebijakan Sosial PBB, Departemen Informasi Publik PBB, dan Administrasi Pos PBB. Kriteria penilaian adalah kemampuan mengekspresikan tema lomba.

Pengumuman Hasil Lomba Hasil seleksi 6 desain terbaik akan diumumkan oleh PBB pada acara Peringatan Hari Internasional Pemberantasan Kemiskinan tanggal 17 Oktober 2007 . Enam (6) desain terbaik yang dipilih oleh Dewan Juri akan ditampilkan pada Peringatan Hari Internasional bagi Pemberantasan Kemiskinan pada tanggal 17 Oktober 2007, dan akan diterbitkan sebagai perangko Administrasi Pos PBB. Dua puluh (20) desain lainnya akan menerima penghargaan khusus. Seluruh hasil karya pemenang (26 buah) akan ditampilkan pada sebuah pameran khusus di Markas Besar PBB di New York.
