Culture vs Culture
Culture is produced and reproduced in the light of socio-historical environment and represented in different patterns and forms from region to region.
One experiences these different patterns and forms of culture when he/she goes abroad.
Have you been to Malaysia?
Malaysians have a unique toilet culture.
Normally, for example in Korea, one is accustomed, or advised to knock twice or three times on the door before he/she enters the toilet.
This is to check whether or not there is already somebody else inside.
At the Malaysian toilet, on the contrary, such toilet etiquette is regarded as something you should avoid.
Moreover, one usually sits facing the door at the toilet, whereas Malaysians vice versa.
Why do Malaysians have such unique toilet culture?
HIJIO invites, selects and publishes writings and visual images of such cross-cultural experiences, such as Malaysian toilet culture.
