Create the wireless applications of the future!
Gemalto, in association with Samsung Electronics and SunMicrosystems, is inviting Java™ experts (in the field of telecommunications), research engineers and start-up entrepreneurs to develop tomorrow‘s wireless applications using (U) SIM cards based on Java Card™ technology. Applications have to be user-friendly and bring value to both the wireless operator and the end-user.

Finalists will be selected by a Selection Committee comprising key players in the telecommunications world. Projects will be assessed for their innovation, marketing appeal, user-friendliness and feasibility.
Prizes worth more than 60,000 euros

Registration 8 May – 21 October 2007. Submission of ideas by filling the entry form.
SIMagine Conferences
26-27 June 2007 – Rome
4 October 2007 – St Petersburg
A two-day conference about mobile communications and Java Card™ in Rome Italy, and in Saint Petersburg Russia
Selection 29 October 2007. Selection Committee will shortlist 50 projects
Development 29 October – 4 January 2008. Gemalto will support contestants in developing their projects through a 2 day training session and dedicated tech support forum
Training 6-7 November 2007. 2 days training session on how to develop SIM applications
Submission deadline 4 January 2007. Projects to be submitted in form of 8 page document in English, 6 slide presentation and Java™ code
Final selection 17 January 2008. Selection Committee will choose finalists
Public presentation 11-14 February 2008. Finalists show their demo at 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, Spain and Awards Ceremony

Gold SIMagine Award 15,000 euro
Silver SIMagine Award 12,000 euro
Bronze SIMagine Award 10,000 euro
Operators’ Awards (5) 5,000 euro
Selection Committee
The Selection Committee will include representatives of key players in the world of wireless communications, Java™, industry and standards organizations. Projects will be evaluated for their innovation, marketing appeal, feasibility and user-friendliness.
